It was my second day in Bangkok and I decided to spend the afternoon exploring the royal temple Wat Pho, also known as the Temple of the Reclining Buddha (or officially: Wat Phra Chetuphon Vimolmangklararm Rajwaramahaviharn). Getting there required crossing the Chao Phraya River to Rattanakosin Island, which is also the location of the Grand Palace. Wat Pho is known for its expansive collection of Buddhist imagery, educational inscriptions, and is the origin of Thai massage.
