The air on the boat out of Phuket was hot and thick, but before long the rolling sea lulled me to sleep. When I woke up we were approaching Tonsai Pier on Koh Phi Phi, an island in the Andaman Sea that is small enough to hear waves crashing on the beach from just about anywhere.
